Hatton Garden ringleaders ordered to pay back

The BBC reports that the ringleaders of the gang that pulled the Hatton Garden heist have been ordered to repay GBP27.5m or spend more time in prison.

Hatton Garden sentences

The BBC has an article about the sentences in the Hatton Garden heist.  Roughly seven years each though given the ages of the robbers that is probably a large chunk of their remaining lives.  Around a third of the stolen fourteen million pounds has been recovered.

Blowing Up ATMs

Bloomberg.com has an article about a  gang in the UK that stole cash from ATMs by filling them with gas and then blowing them up.  Dangerous but effective - at least in 2014.

Gang convicted for UK's largest robbery

Yahoo News has an article about the verdicts for the gang that committed the UK's largest robbery. The men stole 53 million pounds from an armoured car depot in February 2006 but were soon arrested.

The robbers, some dressed as policemen and most wearing prosthetic disguises, snatched the record haul after getting past tight security by kidnapping the depot's manager, his wife and son at gunpoint.

They were also helped by an "inside man", who not only provided details of the building's interior layout and security protocols, but also secretly filmed it using a tiny camera hidden on his belt.
